Why people buy instead of grinding
The grind path:
- Defeat the Ender Dragon (4-8 hours of prep + execution)
- Travel thousands of blocks outward in The End (1-3 hours)
- Find an End City with End Ship (could be 10-30 cities visited)
- Loot the Elytra (5% chance per End Ship)
- Get back home alive
- Find a librarian villager with Mending (multi-day quest)
- Find another with Unbreaking III
- Combine on anvil
Realistic time: 20-40 hours of focused play. Many players never get one this way.
