DonutSMP Mob Drops Farm Design — Layout, Yield, Profit

Optimal DonutSMP mob drops farm designs — layouts and yields.

A "drops farm" converts mob spawns into resources for sale. Here are the optimal designs for the common spawner types on DonutSMP.

Common drops farms

Spawner type Main drops Coins/hr
Skeleton Bones, arrows 2-3M
Zombie Rotten flesh, occasional iron/carrots 1.5-2M
Spider String, spider eyes 1-2M
Creeper Gunpowder 3-5M
Cave Spider String, XP 2-4M
Pigman Gold ingots/nuggets 5-8M

Optimal layout (universal)

The standard design works for any spawner:

Layer 1 — Spawning chamber

  • 9×9 cube
  • Spawner suspended in center via brick blocks
  • Slime block walls (mobs slide off)
  • Dark (light level 0)

Layer 2 — Water collection

  • Floor of spawning chamber has water flowing toward center hole
  • Mobs get pushed by water to a central point

Layer 3 — Kill chamber

  • 1-block opening below water flow
  • Mobs fall 22 blocks (damage them to ~half HP)
  • Land in a 1-block kill area where you finish them with sword

Layer 4 — Hopper collection

  • Hoppers under kill chamber
  • Hopper chain to double chests
  • Auto-pulls all drops

Layer 5 — Storage / auto-sell

  • Chests hold drops
  • Manual /sell at end of session, or
  • Hopper trade with /sell NPC (if server supports)

Stacking multiple farms

DonutSMP has spawn-rate caps per chunk. To maximize output:

  1. Spread farms across 4-6 chunks (each one its own farm)
  2. Be within render distance of the center chunk to load all of them
  3. Each farm operates independently at full spawn rate

5 stacked farms = ~5x the output of one farm.

Hidden farms — security

Other players will:

  • Find your farms via tracking your movement
  • Steal drops if not protected
  • Sometimes destroy spawners

Protections:

  • Build deep underground or sky-high (Y > 200)
  • Don't tell anyone the coords
  • Use redstone alarms for intruder detection (high-end)
  • Build multiple decoy bases

Auto-AFK trick

Some players use auto-clickers (allowed? check server rules) to automatically kill mobs without manual input. Lets the farm run while you're truly AFK.

Common setup:

  • 1-block tall kill chamber
  • Mob's head is right at attack range
  • Auto-clicker hits sword every 600ms

Check server rules before doing this. Some servers ban auto-clickers.

Selling drops

Items per hour (skeleton spawner example):

  • 7,200 bones → /order at 170 each = 1.22M coins
  • 4,800 arrows → /sell at 60 each = 288k coins
  • Total: ~1.5M coins/hour

Sell schedule:

  • Active sell during play sessions
  • Hopper-to-NPC auto-sell during AFK (if supported)

Where to buy spawners

  • In-game shard shop — 1,500 shards each, 25 hours of grinding
  • /ah — 30-200M per spawner depending on type
  • Donut Depot — Skeleton at $0.49 (cheapest path)

Frequently Asked

Can I move a spawner once placed? Only with silk touch pickaxe (extremely rare on most servers — usually impossible).

Do farms work while I'm offline? No — you (or an alt) must be online and within render distance.

Best alt strategy for 24/7 farms? 2-3 alts on rotating shifts. Each alt loads the farm chunks during their "shift." Alt setup guide →

Can spawners be silk-touched? Server-dependent. On most, no.
