DonutSMP Shard Farming — Best Methods 2026
Shard sources, rates, and the smartest path to a stockpile on DonutSMP.
Shards are DonutSMP's second currency. Unlike coins, you can't buy them with /order — only earn them. They're required for the spawner shop, certain crate keys, and a few cosmetic items.
Two ways to earn shards
Method 1 — AFK (1 shard per minute)
Just stand still on the server. Every minute = 1 shard added. Requires being marked AFK (no input for 5+ min).
Per day AFK (24h): ~1,440 shards.
Method 2 — PvP kills (10 shards per kill)
Killing a player in Warzone = 10 shards. Fastest method if you're good at PvP.
Per hour active PvP: 20-40 kills = 200-400 shards.
Method 3 — Vote crates (random bonus)
Legendary vote keys occasionally drop ~50-200 shards as a bonus. Slow but free.

The shard shop changes occasionally but typically includes:

- AFK shard (1/min)
- Iron farm yield (50k coins/hr)

Don't fall for shard scams
Some players in chat offer to "buy your shards for coins". Sometimes legit (1 shard = ~3-5k), often a scam where they /pay-bypass you. Use only /order or trusted Discord trades.
Common mistakes
- ❌ AFK on the spawn point (some servers don't count it)
- ❌ Trying to bot AFK (DonutSMP detects + bans)
- ❌ Spending shards on common keys (poor ROI vs spawners)
- ❌ PvP-farming in unranked zones (some zones don't grant shards)
Frequently Asked
Can I sell shards? No vanilla mechanic. /pay coin trades between players for shards are technically against TOS — be careful.
Best AFK location? Anywhere safe inside your base. Many players just stand on their iron farm platform.
